 Y3 How We Express Ourselves

The central idea of this unit is that images communicate ideas and information.  For this reason, I chose the Rorscharch inkblot test.   Psychologist now generally agree that this test has little or no credibility due to the lack of any scientific evidence.  However students were very engaged, competitve, and many came up with creative interpretations of the inkblots.

The instructions were that they were given a short time, that they should write down the first image that came to them and that they should not share this with others and treat their written answer as if it were a test - which it was in practice.

It had to be emphasized to students that while there were no wrong or right answers, some answer were more popular and frequent than others.    For the most popular responses to the inkblots,  I showed the image below to students.   This created much discussion among them when compared to their own individual responses.

Y6 How We Organize Ourselves

As Y6s continue their learning journey in studying governance, we explored how the parliamentary system works and compared it with the presidential system.

After viewing the Brainpop video on the parliamentary system, students came up with the following answers and main concepts.
